Have you seen the new Chromeo video?

So this video is a bit strange but as mentioned on here before, Chromeo's first single 'Don't Turn The Lights On' from their new album Business Casual is flippin' deadly - and after seeing them live over in Lovebox/London the other week I already have tickets for their November 4th Tripod gig. DO IT. If you haven't seen them live you are missing out.

climaXXX at B-Bar Dun Laoghaire

The climaXXX soundsystem is delighted to be part of this years Dun Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures. One of the best weekends going in Dublin, having graced it for the last few years we've often dreamed of bagging a slot at it. We'll be warming up for Favela Chic's DJ Tchicky & MC Taiwa fresh from Paris and will be joined by Schizofonics main man Shortie, possibly the bst DJ in Dublin representing all things bass for the night. There ain't much info on the gig online but there is an event page here with the rest of the weekends entertainment too. Expent lots of Baile and all of it's foreign cousins.

SATURDAY, 24th JULY 2010 ‘Disco Brasil’ at the 40ft Dun Laoghaire
CLUB // 10.00pm – 3.00am
Baile Funk Party featuring ‘Favela Chic’ DJ Tchicky & MC Taiwan (Paris)

New Chromeo - with sexy results!

The latest track from Chromeo's new album 'Business Casual' is a slow groove called 'Don't Turn The Lights On' - along the lines of 'Waiting For You' and '100 per cent' P-Thugg gets down on the 80s keyboards and Dave1 goes to town on some sultry lyrics:

They have the 80s synth groove sound DOWN.

Quality graffiti animation by Blu

It's rare (for me anyway) to watch a ten minute youtube video to the end but this is WELL worth it, particularly the amazing water tower soldier bit near the end:

Beyonsay & a cracking 80s mix from Mek

I heard Handsome Paddy talking about this at Kings of Concrete over the weekend, had to check it out. Pretty funny if a little old at this stage, but like I always say everything is new when you hear it first... or something. Bit of the back story: Weeshie Fogarty is a Kerry radio legend, up there with the great Patser McGonigle in terms of broadcast reach and wealth of inoffensive bantery titbits. He had a bit of a slip up on air when his producer went to a concert in the big smoke, Ireland's first son of DMC; Mek wasted no time in putting together this tribute.

Also worth checking out is Mek's awesome 'Reasons to be Cheerfull' mix. Gets steady rotation in climaXXX towers; some classic 80s tacks and fine scratching.
More Mek here.
