The nice folk over at XLR8R magazine noticed our post on Modeselektor and sent over a link to a recent podcast the boys did for their magazine. It's a DJ set taking in Dubstep, Kuduro and French electro. Get over there and grab it now and be sure to say thanks.

King of the Swing
As if being a shit hot DJ wasn't enough for this young lad, he had to go and put together one of the most original live in the country right now. Kormac has been wowing crowds for years now with his DJ sets that take in Old school Hip Hop, jackin house and just about anything else you can think of. More recently he has been perfecting his live show that features a barber shop quartet, brass, clarinet, banjo, live percussion and the main man on scratch duties, keys and samplers. As you can probably guess the live show is a pretty spectacular affair, taking in the sounds of old fashioned Swing and modern Hip Hop and breaks.
Catch him at the Picnic this weekend not once but twice, with the full live show on Saturday, 12.30-13.00 Main Stage. Then a DJ set with Rosko on Friday at the Bernard Shaw Tent 11.oo till midnight. Check out the Bodytonic Podcast below for an idea of what to expect from the DJ set.

Electric Picnic Pyjama Party 08!
Antics take over Fossets Circus after hours this year and they have invited ClimaXXX down to host a little shindig on the Friday. So we decided to break out the Jim Jams and have a sleep over.
That's right, once the clowns are safely locked away, we will break out the decks and have a slumber party complete with pillow fights and chats about steamy boys.
We got Twister, Chamber of Secrets, pillows, booze, gossip and all the other essential parts of any good sleep over.
Best part is we go extra late too. 11-3
So get inviting your friends and don't forget your PJs!

Electric Picnic Preview #2
In Part 2 of our EP guide SUgARTiTZ takes a look at some more artists playing....
Grace Jones:
This genre-jumper has released ten studio albums since 1977 dipping her androgynous toes into disco, funk, electronica and more. Grace Jones, who was at one stage Warhol's muse, is about as iconoclastic as they come. If you're old enough to know who Miss Jones is you are old enough to know that she shouldn't be missed.
Chewy:
Our boy Chewy will be pleasing the masses in Fossett's with a Pyjama Party from 11pm-3am on Friday night/Saturday morning. He'll be keeping it dance-floor friendly with a mix of disco and all time favourites from the 80s and 90s. Think Sweet Valley High sleepover meets eurotrash discotheque...in a circus.
Chewy MaXXXiMix
Late of The Pier:
I was lucky enough to catch Late of the Pier a few months back in the POD. They are one of those rare bands that I found myself having a bop and singing along to when I'd never heard their stuff before. Their anything-goes sound is getting lots of hype and rightly so. Having Erol Alkan as your producer int gonna hurt neither. Their slot should be aces.
Late Of The Pier - The Bears Are Coming (Original Mix)
Late Of The Pier - Bears are Coming (Partyshank Remix)
Late Of The Pier- Space & The Woods (Blaze Tripp Remix)
The Dying Seconds:
If The Dying Seconds' performance at Castle Palooza was anything to go by, their set at the picnic should be a stormer. Lots of bloggers have been giving them their propers and they've been compared to the likes of Arcade Fire and Death Cab for Cutie. I prefer to think of them as the bastard child of Elbow and Kraftwerk – you've got to hear it to believe it. This lot are such crackers they've been given two slots...check them out in the Pop Baby tent at 11pm on Friday and 11.30pm on Saturday.
The Dying Seconds - Feist Remix
Yacht:
Thems in the know (LCD Soundsystem, Architecture in Helsinki, Vampire Weekend...) have been scrambling over each other to get Yacht to tour with them and recently Vibe Magazine called the band indie rock's Timbaland. Yacht head honcho Jona Bechtolt describes the band as an amalgamation of self-taught dance moves and anthemic electro-power jams all played backwards and covered in cherry cola. What more could we ask for? Don't miss the boat on this one.
Toddla T:
This Sheffield youngfella has been getting up to all sorts of late - producing tracks for Roots Manuva, remixing Hot Chip and helping two climaXXX favourites Sinden and Switch fill the floor at Fabric, not to mention making top tracks of his own. He'll be playing the Twisted Pepper Arena in the Bodytonic Village on Friday night with a live MC. If you want to get your weekend off to one helluva start with a pleasure from the bass genre-mash then Toddla's your kid.
Toddla's 13 Minute Micro Mix
Toddla T - Soundtape Killin ft. Serocee (Nastee Boi Remix)

Mr Jones Blog Launch and Fashion Show this Thursday
As part of Beauty School Drop Out at the Bernard Shaw, Mr Jones will be dropping by this week to celebrate the launch of his new blog. Mr Jones is on holidays at the moment but will return to brand new venue 'The Twisted Pepper' come September and the night looks set to give Dublin a hefty boot up the arse. It will take place every Thursday with residents Shortie, Scutchie and Mark Lam holding the reigns and play host to such illustrious talent as Switch, Drop the Lime and Radioclit.
Probably the most exciting club night to hit Dublin in a few years, the effort and thought that is going into this new venture is pretty impressive as is the list of acts dropping by to play.
We will have more info on the new night nearer the launch but in the mean time, come down the Shaw on Thursday at 8 for a sneak preview.

Sonic 86 - Bass in yo Face!
It's always nice to help break a new act, especially when it's an act as fresh sounding as these fellas. It's also a bonus when you have the pleasure of knowing and playing alongside them from time to time. Sonic 86 are two Dublin based DJs and producers that fit all of the above criteria and some. Part of a new wave of talent that has a full understanding of how the current club/blog climate works and where it seems to be heading too, they have embraced genres from the past like ghetto tech and techno and mixed them with current trends like the BadMan Bass sound favored by Herve and co. to create a new style that as yet has no name (see the Egyptrixx post for another good example).
The lads mention acts like Drop The Lime, Detboi, Egyptrixx and Drums of Death as acts 'killin it' right now, that will give you some indication of the sound they are pushing. Or you could just download the tracks and break out the Bassbins.
Keep it here for info on upcoming Sonic 86 gigs.
Listen:
Sonic 86 - Heat Gun
Sonic 86 - Limb by Limb
Sonic 86 - Tipsy
Sonic 86 - NNYY (highly reccomended)

Stonewax - - - - >
I came across this track on the Soulwax myspace the other day when doing up the Day in The Life post, then Headman finished off with it last Friday at Spy and hearing it on the Function One confirmed my initial thought of 'my remix of the year'. The track is a nice slow groove that stays true to the original vocals adding just a typical Soulwax analogue synth line and some chopped guitars.
Sublime stuff.
Rolling Stones - You Can't Always Get What You Want (Soulwax Remix)
Don't forget you can catch Soulwax with Kraftwerk at 'A Day in The Life' on the 13th September in Wicklow.

Electric Picnic Preview #1
Over the next two weeks we will be giving a brief introduction to some of the acts we will be checking out at this years EP. Not much room to go in to detail here so just a couple of tracks and videos of our main highlights really.
First up,
Modeselektor: Bodytonic Main Stage, Sunday.
A live set from the German duo, their show in the Tivoli earlier this year is still talked about with fondly. Expect everything from dub step to pounding techno and a sprinkle of champagne.
Listen: Modeselektor - The Dark Side Of The Sun feat. Puppetmastaz (Original Mix)
Diplo: Bodytonic Main Stage, Sunday.
No introduction needed for this fella.
Listen to Fuzzy Peach Mix and Top Ranking Mix Tape
Dan Deacon: Somewhere on Saturday.
After just a couple of years on the scene this Philly born producer has made a name for himself as one helluva live act, check out the vid for an idea.
Benga: Bodytonic Main Stage, Sunday.
One of the guys responsible for the massive surge in the popularity of dub step, now making it good stateside too. Check mac E's post for the lowdown and some tracks.
Jape: Somewhere on the Friday.
Local hero Richie Egan will no doubt draw a huge crowd. Played Glastonbury earlier this year and just released his Ritual album. DO NOT miss Floating sung to/by the large home crowd.
Jape - Floating (Prins Thomas Mix)
Lindstrom & Prins Thomas: Twisted Pepper Stage Saturday.
Well deserved 4 hour set for the Nordic twosome. Excellent move from Bodytonic to get them down for an extendo-set. Cosmic disco that will start easy and no doubt culminate in hedonistic twisted disco madness.
Lindstrom & Prins Thomas Essential Mix - One of the best essential mixes ever.
That's it for now, more over the next two weeks.

Climaxxx DJs at Lovebox Dublin :Win A Ticket!
CLIMAXXX DJs have just been confirmed for Lovebox Festival in Marlay Park on August 23rd.
N*E*R*D are headlining with Maximo Park and also down are Gorillaz, Kid Creole and a nice selection of local talent including Al Keegan, Splitloop and Mark Allton.
The NERD lads seem to be knocked of the 'hottest producer right now' mark by Timbaland but some of their new work is way more exciting than Tims, check out the video for Everyone Nose below to see what they have been up to lately.
The Gorillaz will feature their Soundsystem/DVJ set that looks like it could be well worth a look, sampler below. They will have 360 degree visuals inside the 3 story film set that will serve as their stage.
CLIMAXXX play the Stockade Stage at 3.45pm, described as a 'fortress style rotunda in the woods' the Stockade sounds like the perfect place to launch our Booty Shakin' assault on the masses.
The best news: We have 4 tickets to give away, if you would like to win one, just send an email to
onechewlove@gmail.com with your full name. Winners will be chosen at random.

Yelle pour vous
New Vid from director Yoann Lemoine for french electro poplets Yelles 'Ce Jeu'. There was loads of hype surrounding the release of this, I got three countdown emails, I guess it worked though as here I am posting it. It's a sweet song and was worthy of a decent video, the director did a nice job keeping an upbeat feel despite the dark lighting.
Trendsters will note the styling is by Jean Paul Lespagnard whose 'cowboy, clown coutoure' show was reveered by the fashions scenes elite last month including Diane Pernet who had a few words with the man over on 'A Shaded View'.

Kid Sister cancels European tour...again
Yes, the fiery little upstart has decided to cancel her entire European tour, no reason was given at the time of writing this and I am going to rule out speculation of crack abuse or exhaustion (due to crack abuse) and assume a much more likely situation: like MIA and Santogold before her, the chick simply cant hack the heat.

Bizzle my Nizzle
Lethal Bizzle will make an appearance this Thursday at Club NME in the Button Factory. One of the new breed of UK Hip-Hop acts embracing and being embraced by the Indie scene, Bizzle has made a name for himself working with cheese faced Doherty and The Rakes amongst others. Perhaps his high point coming when faced with a sea of angry sexually frustrated rocker type teenagers at Download festival he held his own and won them over, unlike Jay Z who cleared half the main arena at Glasto recently. Deffo one to catch now.
We have a couple of passes to offer too. If you fancy winning one just send an email to
